Gee… sorry to be a bit scandalous… but what’s happened to the entertainment factor of Nook?

Its seems we’ve lost a significant amount of interest. People tend create their own posts and make very little effort to respond and keep momentum going about topics initiated by others.

And no offense Bill, you’re entitled to your religious views but I never seem to notice any enthusiastic replies to your passages from the Bible… maybe you would get a better response joining a religious based network?

What’s happened? Seeing that there’s no ipods or prizes on offer it seems that we’ve lost interest in Nook? I’m certainly not innocent, my daily visits over summer have become monthly check ins, if that.

If discussion over the latest news stories, criminals and victims is desired, I suggest registering with The AGE’s Your Say online. Seriously, its great.

Nook just isn’t juicy anymore!

For those who may challenge me on this whiny message, please put words into action and keep Nook entertaining! Lets try this!

Hi everyone,

I would love to hear some stories from those low income earners out there recieving ‘benefits’ from Centrelink. How have the new amendments to the welfare legislation affected you and your quality or life personally?

What are opinions on the Welfare to Work policies? Again, I would love to hear of people’s experiences regarding these matters.

I am a social sciences student and no names or stories would be revealed, anonymity is absolutely acceptable of course!

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!

I R Laws - How are they affecting you?

I am doing some research into the nature of the IR laws and their implications from either employees or employers… all opinions invited.

I am specifically interested to hear personal views on how this workplace legislation has benefited or hindered you personally. I would appreciate any comments immensely.

THANK YOU!

What would it be people? Can you decide? I had a pizza last night from a place where on the ‘gusto’ (their version of the lot) - they actually give you a couple of slices of all their populars.

For example - there was pepperoni - crossing into cappricosa, crossing into ham and pineapple (with top grade ham), crossing into gourment vege, crossing into chicken, crossing into eggplant and salami. We were impressed.

My ultimate would be something like… I really can’t lock that one in.. but this sounds like a good one:

thin crust, napoli sauce, garlic, marinated chicken, spinach, roasted capsicum, sun dried tomato, mushroom, spanish onion, kalamata olives, roast pumpkin and either bocconcini, fetta, ricotta or mozarella. With black pepper and a dash of chilli flakes, plus some fresh herbs (aka basil or whatnot) on top.

I spent this Saturday night with my boyfriend selecting tracks off ’youtube’ on the laptop, sitting on the bed, drinking a few cans of double black, eating a gourmet pizza and having a relaxing yet entertaining evening.

We had an extremely enjoyable night together, in a very simple way. Can you tell we don’t get enough time together?!

What sorts of activities do you and your partner most enjoy together?

TROPFest 2007

I realise that this post is actually a bit ‘behind’ - Tropfest was made accessible to the public through a free DVD of the Aus. Film Festival’s top sixteen entries about a fortnight ago now!

How did others enjoy it? Quite generally, I felt that the entries were of a fantastic quality.

An Imaginary Life” - was very clever. As a child, I had an imaginary friend and I distinctly remember the night that Farquar ’went away’. Quirky and insightful.

Bad Yoghurt” - an astonishing take on glamour, as I understand it. Quite smart.

Roadrage” - this one did not fail to warm the heart. The twist is thought provoking, and offers much perspective on ’real life in the fast lane’.

Mere Oblivion“. The cinematography is distinctly memorable in this short flick - reminisent of a kind of nostalgic screenplay where it is difficult to lose focus because of such attractive delivery. Again, quirky and thought provoking.

I could go on about others - but perhaps somebody else might like to?

Victims of toxic waste in Lyndhurst?

Hi folks,

I would like to hear from those who live in Lyndhurst where the toxic waste tip has recently been developed/activated.

Can you please tell me how/if you feel your human rights as a local citizen of the community have been violated?

I need to conduct some research into this topic.

Thanks

I am a community development student who will this year be conducting a social research report on any social ‘issue’ I wish to…

I am interested in and would really appreciate hearing some input from other residents of Melbourne regarding the issues they percieve to be significant social problems which could benefit from some research and analysis.

Thanks.

Why are relationships so confusing?!

What do people think about relationships in the modern era?

In an age of efficiency and individualism how does the concept of a long lasting relationship fit in?

Isn’t the notion of a relationship inherently going to struggle in an age where we are encouraged and wish to pursue our own individual interests?

Does it all come down to compatability? I’m confused. .

I am posting on the apparent attitude of some ‘academics’ regarding apparent discrimination I notice about the ‘lesser education’ recieved at Tafe than through the seemingly superior University.

I first felt the brunt of this as I was rejected from a traineeship from a certain high profile Newspaper because I had not completed the third year of my Uni degree and because all my fantastic academic efforts at Tafe did not seem notable enough. This same Newspaper will however, accept any applicantions for work with them if they have previously completed ANY university degree.

It seemed that it does not matter that my areas of study at Tafe had been highly academic and extensive, and more so - very relevant to the traineeship. I could produce a folio of excellent writing, etc. The evidence of my skills were there - but they would not be considered because I did not at least, have a  B.A in something, no matter how far removed from journalism or the literature of anything close to the English language!

Having studied at both Uni and Tafe - I am appalled at this popular social belief by many academics and intellectuals that Tafe education is so quickly determined as insuperior to the University degree. From my own experience in both institutes - I find continually that education provided by Tafe institutes is more personal, more deep, more thorough, more reflective, more practical (naturally) and allows for students to challenge and question learning material in a more supportive and effective educational environment.

I understand that in the past Tafe has been understood as simply a place of ‘technical education’ - well I am insistent that today is is FAR FAR more than that. I wish to see a finer line drawn between those who have a University degree. This evidence of discrimination in the perception of those educated through Uni verse Tafe should be more closely examined and understood.

Of course, this ALL depends on what subjects one is learning. Scientists are not created through the Tafe system, for example. I accept this. The same with medical proffessionals, etc. etc.

But some areas’ of study and particulary industry, I admit, are absolutely mentored at Tafe in a very enriched fashion and it disappoints me greatly that this is so easily overlooked. What it is - to refine my point - is that through acknowledging that one has a Uni degree, you are simply accepting that they have been successful at studying at a particularly high level. Meanwhile - students doing academic subjects at Tafe and sometimes, practically identical subject areas are not apparently percieved as having been so capable.

It’s unfair, and I hope that this concept will change given due time.

I like political debate, history, sociology, art and documentaries. I enjoy hanging out in the garden with my buddy the blue heeler x. and dreaming of film making. I am a student, and my favourite dude is Chomsky. If you don't know who he is, you should find out. I love Raphael Nadal, and you can see that I am very balanced in my interests! I love food, in particular oats with yogurt and fruit, any type of vegetable and toasted sandwiches, of course with cheese. I prefer dark chocolate. When I dance with my best friend, I feel free.
