TROPFest 2007
Published 1 year, 8 months ago in My life.I realise that this post is actually a bit ‘behind’ - Tropfest was made accessible to the public through a free DVD of the Aus. Film Festival’s top sixteen entries about a fortnight ago now!
How did others enjoy it? Quite generally, I felt that the entries were of a fantastic quality.
“An Imaginary Life” - was very clever. As a child, I had an imaginary friend and I distinctly remember the night that Farquar ’went away’. Quirky and insightful.
“Bad Yoghurt” - an astonishing take on glamour, as I understand it. Quite smart.
“Roadrage” - this one did not fail to warm the heart. The twist is thought provoking, and offers much perspective on ’real life in the fast lane’.
“Mere Oblivion“. The cinematography is distinctly memorable in this short flick - reminisent of a kind of nostalgic screenplay where it is difficult to lose focus because of such attractive delivery. Again, quirky and thought provoking.
I could go on about others - but perhaps somebody else might like to?

A friend of my boyfriend’s made “SHOES FOR BREAKFAST” (the one with George from Seinfeld), which didn’t make the finals, but being a sneaker freak, I loved it!!! Inspired by someone who actually ate his shoe, live on stage… crazy…
IMHO, Tropfest this year was the best ever. Bad Yoghurt was exceptional and there was more than one film that touched me but you’re right, Titch, the stand out was definitely Road Rage. What a film…
(Did anyone see Goggles last year? That was a delight!)
