Gee… sorry to be a bit scandalous… but what’s happened to the entertainment factor of Nook?

Its seems we’ve lost a significant amount of interest. People tend create their own posts and make very little effort to respond and keep momentum going about topics initiated by others.

And no offense Bill, you’re entitled to your religious views but I never seem to notice any enthusiastic replies to your passages from the Bible… maybe you would get a better response joining a religious based network?

What’s happened? Seeing that there’s no ipods or prizes on offer it seems that we’ve lost interest in Nook? I’m certainly not innocent, my daily visits over summer have become monthly check ins, if that.

If discussion over the latest news stories, criminals and victims is desired, I suggest registering with The AGE’s Your Say online. Seriously, its great.

Nook just isn’t juicy anymore!

For those who may challenge me on this whiny message, please put words into action and keep Nook entertaining! Lets try this!

Your right in what you say titch. I fear Nook is on its back, feet in the air breathing it’s last laboured breaths.

Not because of Nooksters not wanting to post and/or comment but because of the obvious apathy of the Administrators of this site.

There have been numerous complaints and questions asked by Nooksters as to why they are encountering continual problems, but they have elicited no response.

It would appear that the Leader Newspaper group is no longer interested in running this site and rather than be upfront and tell people they would appear to prefer running the site as hopelessly & inefficiently as they can until everyone just gives up and walks away.

I was really fanatical about Nook but I’m finding I can’t be bothered anymore, I don’t look in very often now and can’t see the point in making comments on posts as they either don’t appear or take hours/days to do so (eg: a comment posted about 8pm last night still isn’t up).

What has got up my nose most of all is the fact that Admin has so rudely ignored any questions asked of them in this matter. It would appear that they like an ever increasing number of services/businesses no longer consider customer service to be of importance. Whether this is a free service is irrelevant people should have pride in what they do and do it to the best of their abilities at all times regardless.

It makes you wonder if their newspaper is even worth considering, if this site is an example of the organisation their articles are probably bogus and/or fictitious and those who chose to advertise with them are probably foolish or as inefficient as they are.

I have to agree with viva. It’s impossible to hold a discussion when comments don’t appear for 24 hours. It would be quicker by snail-mail (but just as impractical). Whatever the Leader intended when they started this site I’m afraid they have lost interest (and the plot) and it looks like they will just let it wither and die, which I personally think is a shame.

Here’s a thought, can somebody advise an alternative site. We could still have our nook names…

    your elusive mayor.

I feel that it is the Nook lag that puts people off responding.

Well, I’m thinking admin is still looking us over, like big brother, because someone is vetting the spammers.

But maybe is a psychological experiment in their lunchhour a bit like sims…..theyre not communicating with us, and they are observing our reactions ???

    Wow guys..

Thanks for the responses.. I admit I initially felt a bit fearful in checking in on this post because I was concerned that I may have offended people - which was never my intention.

like yourselves… I got on board Nook with vigor, really enjoyed it and just wanted to see how others were feeling about the dwindling energy I seemed to perceive around it.

Thanks for being so understanding, you get it too!!

I guess the lack lustre efforts of admin are certainly an issue…

Perhaps my age has mellowed me with time. I just accept what the Administration is about…It probably felt like a good idea at the time. A place where the “local” newspaper” could peer into the glass bowl of public opinion and see what makes us tick.

But what they saw, was not what interested them as a media source.

If we look at blog entries on many sites, the ones that gain the most input are usually the most frivolous. Society as a whole is more interested in Paris Hilton’s latest conquest than climate change. It is the nature of the beast!

Perhaps when there is more to say, the administration will think there is more to hear.
Various Nooksters have certainly cried out to be heard without success…..perhaps earning an income from sales and advertising is more important to the management, than actually concentrating on newsworthy articles of information or opinions.

What’s that prayer again Bill? God give me the grace to accept that which I cannot change?? and I am an Atheist to boot!

hey ‘titch’ u make your own entertainment and people join in

    here is something to ponder

    DISCRETION

Six retired Floridians were playing poker in the condo clubhouse when
Meyerwitz loses $500 on a single hand, clutches his chest, and drops dead
at the table. Showing respect for their fallen comrade, the other five
    continue playing standing up.

Finklestein looks around and asks, “So, who’s gonna tell his wife?”

They cut the cards. Goldberg picks the two of clubs and has to carry the
news. They tell him to be discreet, be gentle, don’t make a bad situation
    any worse.

“Discreet? I’m the most discreet person you’ll ever meet.
Discretion is my middle name. Leave it to me.”

Goldberg goes over to the Meyerwitz apartment and knocks on the door.

The wife answers thru the door and asks what he wants.

Goldberg declares: “Your husband just lost $500 in a poker game and is
    afraid to come home.”

“Tell him to drop dead!” yells the wife.

“I’ll go tell him.” says Goldberg.

i like nook. it’s a reflection of our community. not a reflection of a perfect communty, but of our community. i know a bit about this online caper and i can assure you that keeping the hundreds or thousands of daily spam entries out will be the main reason for delays. each item has to be assessed individually, there is no quick way.

I like political debate, history, sociology, art and documentaries. I enjoy hanging out in the garden with my buddy the blue heeler x. and dreaming of film making. I am a student, and my favourite dude is Chomsky. If you don't know who he is, you should find out. I love Raphael Nadal, and you can see that I am very balanced in my interests! I love food, in particular oats with yogurt and fruit, any type of vegetable and toasted sandwiches, of course with cheese. I prefer dark chocolate. When I dance with my best friend, I feel free.
